Clare Spalding has been running a once a month FREE clinic for victims of Domestic Abuse for the last 5 years, during these sessions, Clare will confidentially consult, support and offer free treatment where abuse survivors have visible evidence of trauma, scarring or damage to their face and body. What is Domestic Abuse?

Domestic abuse as an incident or pattern of incidents of controlling, coercive, threatening, degrading and violent behaviour, including sexual violence, in the majority of cases by a partner or ex-partner, but also by a family member or carer. It is very common. In the vast majority of cases it is experienced by women and is perpetrated by men, however, we wish to make it clear that men also do suffer domestic abuse incidents too.

Domestic abuse can include, but is not limited to, the following:

Coercive control (a pattern of intimidation, degradation, isolation and control with the use or threat of physical or sexual violence)

Psychological and/or emotional abuse

Physical or sexual abuse

Financial or economic abuse

Harassment and stalking

Online or digital abuse

What impact has Covid-19 had on survivors of domestic abuse?

Clare Spalding has been working with survivors and services from the very beginning of the Covid-19 crisis. Many charities and services continue their evaluation and monitoring on the needs of women and their children has shown the devastating impact of Covid-19 and lockdown measures, charities and services need more help than ever to support them. Clare has pledged to help fundraise in 2021/2022 to provide support.
